Trade Center (PTC)? Pakuwon Trade Center is one of the shopping centers in Surabaya.
The place is full of people all the time whether for shopping, eating, or just
hanging out. This shopping center is open from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm. Many
things can be found there as clothing from various brands, food from various
regions and countries, electronic equipments from various brands and the others.
However, there is one thing that very interesting when you come to PTC. If you like
eat pempek Palembang, you must try this food when visiting PTC. The famous pempek
Palembang in this mall is Pempek Palembang Madame Farina. Do not call yourself
that you are pempek lovers if you are not trying the taste pempek Palembang
Madame Farina yet. The location is on
the underground floor in PTC and near escalator. The stand of pempek Palembang Madame
Farina in row by many other stores on left side. On the left side, there is a
stand “Solo Super” selling meatballs with various flavors and on the right side,
there is a stand “Top Rasa” that sells a variety of heavy foods such as
penyetan bebek, fried rice, nasi mawut, nasi pecel and others. In front of stand pempek Madame Farina there
is a mobile phone shop with brand Blackberry and Apple and “Obamma” cassette
store.
The stand of pempek Palembang
Madame Farina is not capacious. If you come there, you will see a lot of things
directly. On the left side of the stand, there are two cooling racks for saving
drinks, on the right is a place where various kinds pempek served, and a small
kitchen in the back is used for frying pempek customer’s order. On the right of
where the food ordering there are two screens that mention with written “order”
(on the left) and “take” (on the right). In addition, there are two seats and
one table in the stand that take in the stand and outside of the stand. There
are 6 workers there, one person as a duty to serve pempek option of the buyer,
one as a cashier, two people has a duty of frying pempek and the other two on
duty took the buyer's order to the table. The stand of pempek Madame Farina is crowded
by full of people - such as children, teenagers and old people- from 10:00 am
till 10:00 pm. Most people who often visit to this place are the worker and it
makes the place is very crowded when lunchtime. When ordering the food, many
people jostle each other because they are afraid if they will not get it. The
atmosphere in the stand is a little hot and crowded because the voices of buyers
that jostle each other and they are shouting what the kinds of food they order.
When you want to order the food, you just choose what kinds of pempek that you
want. After finish, you immediately pay to the cashier. Then, they will deliver
orders to your table.
The main ingredients
of these foods are fish flesh and sago. Then, the basic materials are developed
into various types of pempek by varying the contents or other additives such as
chicken eggs, fish skin, and tofu the basic ingredients. There are so many
varieties of pempek Palembang there and the price is different each other, such
as pempek Kapal Selam super (Rp. 18.000), pempek Kapal Selam besar (Rp.
14.000), pempek Lenjer super (Rp. 14.000), pempek Lenjer besar (Rp. 12.000),
pempek keriting (Rp. 6.000), pempek kulit (Rp. 6.000), pempek tahu (Rp. 1.000),
pempek Adaan (Rp. 1.000) and pempek Lenggang goreng (Rp. 10.000). Then there
was another variety like tekwan (Rp. 15.000), Otak-otak goreng (Rp. 1.000),
Extra noodle (Rp. 1000), and Extra cucumber (Rp. 1.000). This place also in
providing a variety of different teas, ice and mineral water from Rp. 3.000 to
Rp.8.000 and its price depend what kind of drinks you ordered.
The taste of pempek
Palembang Madame Farina is delicious. When you order the food, there are three
kinds food in the plate, such as pempek, fresh cucumber dice and yellow
noodles. When you eat the food, you have to add pempek sauce that has black brownish
color, called vinegar. Vinegar is made from boiled water, and then adds brown sugar,
dried shrimp and shrimp mashed chili, garlic, and salt. Vinegar is made spicy
to increase appetite but there is also a sweet taste to the people who do not
like spicy flavors. Vinegar can protect teeth from caries (damage to enamel and
dentin). It is because in one liter vinegar of pempek contain 9-13 ppm flour.
According medical side that vinegar pempek is made by the original acid is
also friendly to the stomach. It can make the stomach naturally become stronger
and healthier. The smell of fresh cucumber slices provides a distinctive smell
when served with pempek. Then, when in flush with vinegar sauce, sliced
cucumber gives a sour taste delicious. Spicy flavor of the vinegar sauce
mixed with salty and sour taste of fresh cucumber slices, giving a sensation in
the mouth when you eat them. Your mouth and throat will be a sense of a little
heat after you eat the food if it is your first time. I think it is the taste
sensation of the spicy sauce.
This is my favorite
place when visit Pakuwon Trade Centre. I think pempek here is the most
delicious one that I ever eat. The stand provides many kinds of pempek and
makes you confuse which one that you have to choose. Although, the price is
expensive but is similar to the enjoyment that you get. If you come to Pakuwon Trade Centre do not
forget to taste the delicious pempek Palembang Madame Farina. I guarantee your tongue
will sway and 100 % addictive. Just bring Rp. 20.000 and you will get delicious
food and make your stomach overly full. You have nothing to lose and will not
regret if you try pempek Madame Farina. I guess you will come again and want to
taste the food again because I do something like that.
